The Next-Generation Consoles are more than gaming machines they are complete entertainment systems. You can spend some money over Xbox Live on the 360 and rent movies, purchase TV shows and download music videos.  But if you don't want to waste money renting and would rather watch movies without using the DVD drive both the PS3 and the 360 are capable of doing that as well as streaming your music so you don't have to use your precious hard drive space storing your entire mp3 collection.
